It has been determined that the Walgreens by work is better than the Walgreens out my back door for the following reasons:
-They have a better drink selection
-They have Nantucket Nectars
-They have strawberry Crush
-The Drink selection is not randomly out of stock of a normal drink and overstocked with a weird flavor of a normal drink (ie out of regular Dr. Pepper but 10,000 bottles of Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper)
-More open entry area
-Lots of candy to tease you at the checkout
-An entire aisle of Chicago souvenirs
-Many snack-size bags of chips
-Single serving little bowls of cereal
-A really reeeeally friendly dwarf works there
Reasons I still love my Walgreens:
-It is out my back door
-Employees are always friendly
-Automatic doors
-12 pack of Quilted Northern toilet paper for $4
I had a fabulous weekend with an early arrival of Travis on Saturday. We expressed how much we missed each other and then walked to Santullos for lunch. I had the most delicious slice of goat cheese and red pepper pizza of my life...who knew it could be so tasty!

We also spit a slice of BBQ Chicken and Green pepper that had a sad face...and way too much BBQ sauce.

Then we walked around Wicker Park for a while, just strolling down Milwaukee. We found a Empire Strikes back shirt on the $9.99 table at Urban Outfitters and I also got a very cute little owl ornament. I named him Owlie and carried him through the store petting him like a crazy. Travis said I could not have mice if I had an owl, so I said he doesn't eat mice, see how tiny his beak is?! I will feed him peanuts and M&Ms and bits of apple.

We walked all the way to Jewel, which is the one errand we needed to run for mimosa fixins for Sunday brunch. Then we went home and organized his iPod and made the most delicious beef stew ever and got really drunk and silly. I was extra chatty and knew it and was trying so hard to control it...which made me laugh a lot later. And I kept saying how amazingly good the beef stew was. Poor Travis lol.

Sunday we woke up late bc my alarm clock that automatically resets itself missed the memo that daylight savings was moved last year. Boo. It was ok though; I'm sure we needed the sleep. We headed over to Annie's and met Oliver who is very very VERY cute and had brunch and mimosas and sat on the couch tipsy and talking for hours.

Then we went to Marshall's and TJ Maxx where I wandered off and took pictures muhahaha.

Annie took us home and then we went out on a hot date to dinner and wanted to go to this one place but couldn't because it was surrounded by construction! Woe! So we walked around a bit and I remembered another place we had previously eyed, so we went there and it was delicious. It's an English pub call The Elephant and so of course we got some cider to drink and I partook on the fish and chips. When we were done I realized I hadn't taken any pictures. Aww. Shame lol.
Then we went in Border for 10 minutes...because they were closing. Boo! Then we went home and watched Transformers on the couch with mugs of espresso drinks and kitties all over us. Transformers was far more awesome than I had expected and silly and funny at parts. It was fun. I thought it odd/interesting that Megatron was so organic. I enjoyed the other Hasbro toys snuck in there...like a My Little Pony and a Furby. Good ol Hasbro.
Getting up this morning was the most difficult thing to do in my life lol. It was dark, cold, and I was warm and cozy and comfortable and laying on Travis. Why leave that to go sit in my cold office? Stupid bills I must pay. At least I have tasty beef stew for lunch!
I've....been spending too much money this weekend. But it's mostly needed things...some splurges...it just adds up, sadly. I must make a list, because I do that.
Thursday:
Confirmed that my family is coming to visit around my birthday (not my actual BDay weekend because they have too much going on AND it's ok because Travis will be here and we have a long-awaited date at the Brookfield Zoo which will only be postponed if it is storming) and will not try to come at Thanksgiving. Purchase: bus tickets to and from Indianapolis...only $47 total, which is pretty sweet. So I got to thinking that my regular bag is always stuffed when I take the bus because I cram in a drink and a sandwich and a snack and it would be nice to have a small pillow and blanket, I noted last time. So...one of the very few times in my life I actually NEED a new bag lol.
Friday:
So...I went to Nordstrom Rack to buy this Puma bag I saw last weekend and really really hoped it would still be there. It was only $30 and I fondle that style of bag every time I go into a Puma outlet store where they are $40, which seems just too much for a bag I don't really need. (it was blue and yellow) They were all gone of course...sad. So I went to Filene's Basement because they had a stash of luggage, but nothing suited me...except a snazzy travel mug and two regular mugs!
Saturday:
I had a shopping mission today. First, necessities: my "Estrogen Therapy," as I call it because that's how my prescription labels read the first time I got it and it amused me very much. So went and picked up 3 months of that...aaaand the price went up....ouch.
Then I was starving so I ran in a nearby Dunkin Doughnuts for a delicious breakfast sandwich that took them practically ever to make but it was indeed delicious. I ran in Staples and got my Cyan Ink (hooked up the laptop to the printer to see what color I needed....Printer has 6 colors and does not tell the Mac what color it is out off -- just that it is out. It will tall the Windows laptop, however, picky picky. So I got that and it was the annoying setup where they get the ink for you and I came off as a dumb girl because the guy was like, "Do you know the number of your printer?" and I said, "I need the Epson ink with the guitar on it. Cyan." Yes, I know I have an Epson R200 but it's much easier to look for the guitar picture than the little numbers on the box, which, I believe, is why they have the pictures. So Staples guy tried to flirt and I was like give me my damn ink already lol. Then...I almost did NOT go to Kohl's as I have been planning all week, and when I saw the bus coming and ran for it and made it, I had to go. Knee socks, I told myself.
The knee sock selection was extremely disappointing. They did, however, have a whole wall of waffle shirts – my other sought item. And the sweaters were ok but I wasn't in love with any of them and the ones I liked were a little itchy.
I wish this was a better style on me...maybe if I was pregnant lol. That's why I think it's odd it's rather popular...because I feel like I should be pregnant when I wear it....but in this case I tried one on because I loved the elephants...and apples lol.
But...there was a whole wall of waffle shirts, which is exactly what I wanted, and I snatched them up pretty quickly but $9 shirts add up very quickly. Sad. I also got another random shirt...I loved it in pink with stars but there was none in my size. Also sad, but bright blue is good too.
Yellow...not so good. I love owls though so I had to give it a try.
Then I looked at the baby clothes...uh oh lol...and got some things for Daniel.
Then I found a fleece throw for $10...and thought of the chilly bus/plane/train...and got that too.
And I stumbled upon sexy lingerie on sale, but I will not show pictures of that ;)
It all adds up...eek! This is me sad I spent so much money:
And this is me happy I bought some awesome things:
Um...then I walked home and went to Walgreens first for this, aka the best stuff ever:
And finally took a picture of my building:
Keeties:
And THEN...I finally used a coupon I had to ebags.com and got my needed travel bag. A simple black tote and rather huge...but I will NOT be one of those people carrying one of those in addition to a gigantic purse on the train during rush hour because that is ridiculous and stupid and, above all, really annoying because not only does it take up the space of an additional person, those women are never conscious of the bags and whack everyone with them. *eyes narrow*
So I think I'm done spending money for a while,,,besides food. No bills this week thank god lol. But I do need moisturizer soon...and I have to mail things.
The End.
Travis came to visit this weekend!
Saturday I did laundry, which was scary because the main light in the laundry room was out...creeeeepy basement!! Then I ran to Target to look at their selection of shot/shot-esque glasses and get some eggs. I was feeling exceptionally tired so I took the bus, which took forever because Traffic was really backed up – going both ways – rush hour style. Just as I sent Travis a text about it I had gotten off the bus and noticed the traffic light at Western and Logan was out...ah ha! I wondered if it just went out or if had been out since Thursday's scary storm, which seemed unlikely because it was a couple days ago. So...I walk over to Target and walk up to the automatic doors and nothing happens. Then I notice the manual door propped open and the darkness inside...
Target was without power but still open for business. I heard the security guard tell someone they hadn't had power since the storm! Crazy! I guess ComEd put the homes without power as a priority. They registers were open and there was random lights on. It was still pretty bustling with people – not as peaceful as I had imagined...or as Bass Pro! Once we went to Springfield (before I was in college) and were at Bass Pro during a big storm and the power went off. It was indeed peaceful because the power powered the indoor waterfall, so without that it was extremely quiet.
Anyway...Target had no sort of shot glasses whatsoever but had tiny plastic cups, which, as I was choosing colors, I realized I had tiny glasses in a box at home, and those should work perfectly. Then, since the power was out, there were no groceries! Dammit! So I walked home and stopped by the little Spanish grocery and got some eggs...and some bacon and biscuits...which was a very good move because it made a delicious breakfast this morning. I enjoy cooking when there is someone else to enjoy it.
Travis arrived around 9pm and we enjoy pizza and "punch" which I have yet to title. It was actually a big batch of Sex on the Beach with some mango juice added...and I made too much. Anyone want to come over and help me drink the rest?? So...it was tasty and we were happily tipsy and silly, which was lovely. The best part was this morning we were completely sober and equally, if not more, silly.
And to Nordstorm Rack...as usual.

We saw Superbad, which was awesome. We both laughed extremely hard many times
Theeen we didn't know what to do and to get away from people and not end up trapped in the hospital area we walked along Lake Shore Drive for a few blocks which was fantastic. They weather absolutely was perfect.

Theeen we went to Crate and Barrel, but first randomly discovered the Chicago Water Works, which we have passed thousands of times and never really noticed. Odd.
C&B was lovely as ever and the Axis sofa is still our favorite.

After that we walked back down to the Blue Line shuttle (another construction weekend)

and a kid was bleeding from a gash in the top of his head and another guy was telling him if he didn't go to the hospital it would get infected and his head would fall off, which would be far worse than owing more money. Yeah...
We came back and ate pizza and then he had to go, which made me exceptionally sad. I think because we didn't go to the movie until 2:30 and we usually go much earlier so it seemed like we lost the whole day. Sad...
We all know what happened earlier this week...
Thank god for eBay...
(cue angelic voices signing the Halleluiah chorus) The S400...not the newest model, but definitely fancier than my S200.
AND...in addition to the TWO I already have...
With SIX batteries and FOUR memory cards...I am UNSTOPPABLE!
Travis came to visit this weekend, so I HAD to try out my new toy. It's like my camera...but from the future! I'm still trying to get all the settings the way I want them. As you can see some pictures were unnecessarily blurry...there was plenty of light!
Keety!
Cherry Citrus Mountain Dew and XXX Vitamin Water
The Blue Line was being worked on this weekend to "eliminate slow zones" and so we took the "shuttle" aka accordion bus! It was truly an adventure. We sat in the middle, which is the best place to get the full "I'm on an accordion bus" effect.
Sears is selling fashions for bucket people too.
Nordstrom Rack
Pigeon of Death returns...with a Nestle Crunch bar!
And now some things that make me swoon:
Wedding cake with BRIDGES holding figures for the entire giant wedding party
Filene's Basement
It started out as a half-joke because of an "incident" that happened a couple years ago there, buuuuut we decided it was an excellent idea to go to ESPN Zone for chicken nachos. I...played a lot while waiting for the food because they were showing the PGA Championship on the big screen....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol.
mmmm
hit the spot
We had the hardest time trying to get home...really just trying to cross the river because...they were shooting a movie! There were helicopters too but I was concentrating more on seeing them than catching them on camera...shaaaaaame, Bethany. I don't know what movie...Angelina and Brad flew into town Tuesday with 2 of the kiddos because she's filming here, so I guess it could be for that. Unless they are still filming Batman. And then again it could be something completely different.
I said, "We need a picture of us!"
And then I said, "Um...let's try that again...in the shade."
Lazy Sunday...I am tired from doing what Travis does all day every day...and so he laughs at me.
And that concludes another lazy Sunday as well as another blog in pictures. I'd like to thank Picassa and Google for making it as simple as pie to integrate pictures into my writings and thus making the world a better place.
And now...a banana slicer!
I woke up at 9:30 and at that moment decided not to go to dance. Laid around in bed for a while with Hobbes. Cut apart my dress pattern pieces but that's as far as I got. Texted Annie finally only to find out she has not one but TWO guests in town. At that point I decided to go to the zoo, because it's me and I always want to go to the zoo (except last weekend – that was a fluke). So I went to Walgreens first and got some Vitamin Water, a bag of chips, and peanut butter M&Ms, then headed to the bus stop. Funny thing is...I was waiting for the bus around time class would be over and kept keeping a lookout for Carole and was ready to duck around the corner if need be, since I hadn't showed up today OR Thursday and hadn't called...and finally I saw he coming but it was just as the bust did, so I jumped on the bus as fast as I could and she didn't see me lol. What a close call! She is crazy lately...in the bad way.
It was SO StL-style hot and humid that I could only stand to be at the zoo for 30 minutes. I know. It was THAT hot. At one point my camera decided to die...as in, the lens was still extended and it was just DEAD. I feared I would have to instead spend the rest of my day camera shopping, but after a few minutes I got it to work. But now I am paranoid and worried...
After the zoo I was literally dripping with sweat...sexy I know. I decided to take an air-conditioned bus downtown and sit in Borders for a while or something. But first, refreshment! Walgreens Trip #2 proved to be pointless as the store was small and the drinks were pretty cleaned out. On my way to 7-11 across the street, the bus was there and I was dying of heat and sweat so I just jumped on. Unfortunately it was rather crowded and only mildly a/c-ed, but I rode it long enough to cool off and finally feel my hunger. For some reason there seems to be little food selection in the Loop on the weekends, but I know where to find it all. I went to Macy's for some delicious fish & chips and Cherry Coke.
I chilled in there for a while and then went down the sidewalk planning on meandering around TJ Max and Filene's Basement but first, ooo!, Payless caught my eye and I ALMOST bought 3 pairs of shoes, but I didn't – I bought 2 pairs hahahaha! 1, some old school slip-ons that have returned, in chocolate with pink plaid. I have admired these for a while but had not found a pattern that screamed my name until today. 2, some hot black heels, also in Bethany-style. The strap fastens with a giant button. The third pair I decided against because I realized the flowered pattern on them was actually kinda ugly lol.
Saw some things I liked in TJ Max and Filene's Basement but I had been far too sweaty to be ok with trying anything on.
Every time I headed out of a store I intended on going home because ever since I ate I had felt very tired, but as soon as I'd walk outside I'd run back into another store because it was so gross outside. I hit up Claire's, Sears, H&M, Old Navy, Staples, and then ended up in Macy's again because I had to pee.
I wandered around the 8th floor for a good while, remembering my early ID days. I spent many a hour sketching furniture vignettes on the 8th Floor of Marshall Field's.
Then I went to Borders in search for a tiny notebook (I had a lot swimming around in my head and wanted to be able to write it all down on my way home.) but finally found one on Walgreens Trip #3...along with another Vitamin Water.
After that I finally headed home and took the longest cold shower ever and intend on spending the rest of my evening sitting on my couch.
You have $100 to spend online in the next hour. How are you going to spend it?
It's lame, but I would go pay one of my bills...since I pay almost all of them online.
If I did NOT have mountains of bills, I would go spend it on DVDs. I'd get North and South and a season of DS9...and then I'd be out of money lol. Sad...
I'm currently doing laundry because I've been literally sitting on my butt all day, except when I took a nap I suppose I was laying on my butt...
I napped for an hour because I shot up awake at 9am needing to pee...previously I had shot up awake at 7:30 and said, "heeeell no." Last night my sister and I were on the phone for 3 1/2 hours...so I didn't go to sleep until about 3am. We were talking about chocolate monkeys, her completely and utter silliness in saying earlier she didn't know how to get to the zoo (when she works right next to it and was actually passing it when I pointed this out to her.), and college. Poor girl is freaking out becuase the pressure to decide the rest of her life is on! I told her she still has time to decide and I STILL don't know what I want to do with my life...well I know but I would need another degree to do it...boooo! Anyway...Chocolate monkey is chillin in my fridge...I kinda want to eat him myself but will have to wait til I go to StL in Sept for a wedding. Travisty is currently on a bachelor party float trip for said wedding and I have to go all weekend without talking to him because of no phone reception or place to charge the phone...again, boooo!
Ah, so it my motivation continues once my laundry is done I will begin making my dress. I haven't made a dress since I was 13, or anything from a pattern for that matter, but, hey, I've seen it done a million times and am quite sure I can handle it seeing as how I make things up without patterns rather often.
I had a mango for breakfast and scrambled eggs for lunch...lazy day.
