I had a fabulous weekend with an early arrival of Travis on Saturday. We expressed how much we missed each other and then walked to Santullos for lunch. I had the most delicious slice of goat cheese and red pepper pizza of my life...who knew it could be so tasty!

We also spit a slice of BBQ Chicken and Green pepper that had a sad face...and way too much BBQ sauce.

Then we walked around Wicker Park for a while, just strolling down Milwaukee. We found a Empire Strikes back shirt on the $9.99 table at Urban Outfitters and I also got a very cute little owl ornament. I named him Owlie and carried him through the store petting him like a crazy. Travis said I could not have mice if I had an owl, so I said he doesn't eat mice, see how tiny his beak is?! I will feed him peanuts and M&Ms and bits of apple.

We walked all the way to Jewel, which is the one errand we needed to run for mimosa fixins for Sunday brunch. Then we went home and organized his iPod and made the most delicious beef stew ever and got really drunk and silly. I was extra chatty and knew it and was trying so hard to control it...which made me laugh a lot later. And I kept saying how amazingly good the beef stew was. Poor Travis lol.

Sunday we woke up late bc my alarm clock that automatically resets itself missed the memo that daylight savings was moved last year. Boo. It was ok though; I'm sure we needed the sleep. We headed over to Annie's and met Oliver who is very very VERY cute and had brunch and mimosas and sat on the couch tipsy and talking for hours.

Then we went to Marshall's and TJ Maxx where I wandered off and took pictures muhahaha.

Annie took us home and then we went out on a hot date to dinner and wanted to go to this one place but couldn't because it was surrounded by construction! Woe! So we walked around a bit and I remembered another place we had previously eyed, so we went there and it was delicious. It's an English pub call The Elephant and so of course we got some cider to drink and I partook on the fish and chips. When we were done I realized I hadn't taken any pictures. Aww. Shame lol.
Then we went in Border for 10 minutes...because they were closing. Boo! Then we went home and watched Transformers on the couch with mugs of espresso drinks and kitties all over us. Transformers was far more awesome than I had expected and silly and funny at parts. It was fun. I thought it odd/interesting that Megatron was so organic. I enjoyed the other Hasbro toys snuck in there...like a My Little Pony and a Furby. Good ol Hasbro.
Getting up this morning was the most difficult thing to do in my life lol. It was dark, cold, and I was warm and cozy and comfortable and laying on Travis. Why leave that to go sit in my cold office? Stupid bills I must pay. At least I have tasty beef stew for lunch!
I've....been spending too much money this weekend. But it's mostly needed things...some splurges...it just adds up, sadly. I must make a list, because I do that.
Thursday:
Confirmed that my family is coming to visit around my birthday (not my actual BDay weekend because they have too much going on AND it's ok because Travis will be here and we have a long-awaited date at the Brookfield Zoo which will only be postponed if it is storming) and will not try to come at Thanksgiving. Purchase: bus tickets to and from Indianapolis...only $47 total, which is pretty sweet. So I got to thinking that my regular bag is always stuffed when I take the bus because I cram in a drink and a sandwich and a snack and it would be nice to have a small pillow and blanket, I noted last time. So...one of the very few times in my life I actually NEED a new bag lol.
Friday:
So...I went to Nordstrom Rack to buy this Puma bag I saw last weekend and really really hoped it would still be there. It was only $30 and I fondle that style of bag every time I go into a Puma outlet store where they are $40, which seems just too much for a bag I don't really need. (it was blue and yellow) They were all gone of course...sad. So I went to Filene's Basement because they had a stash of luggage, but nothing suited me...except a snazzy travel mug and two regular mugs!
Saturday:
I had a shopping mission today. First, necessities: my "Estrogen Therapy," as I call it because that's how my prescription labels read the first time I got it and it amused me very much. So went and picked up 3 months of that...aaaand the price went up....ouch.
Then I was starving so I ran in a nearby Dunkin Doughnuts for a delicious breakfast sandwich that took them practically ever to make but it was indeed delicious. I ran in Staples and got my Cyan Ink (hooked up the laptop to the printer to see what color I needed....Printer has 6 colors and does not tell the Mac what color it is out off -- just that it is out. It will tall the Windows laptop, however, picky picky. So I got that and it was the annoying setup where they get the ink for you and I came off as a dumb girl because the guy was like, "Do you know the number of your printer?" and I said, "I need the Epson ink with the guitar on it. Cyan." Yes, I know I have an Epson R200 but it's much easier to look for the guitar picture than the little numbers on the box, which, I believe, is why they have the pictures. So Staples guy tried to flirt and I was like give me my damn ink already lol. Then...I almost did NOT go to Kohl's as I have been planning all week, and when I saw the bus coming and ran for it and made it, I had to go. Knee socks, I told myself.
The knee sock selection was extremely disappointing. They did, however, have a whole wall of waffle shirts – my other sought item. And the sweaters were ok but I wasn't in love with any of them and the ones I liked were a little itchy.
I wish this was a better style on me...maybe if I was pregnant lol. That's why I think it's odd it's rather popular...because I feel like I should be pregnant when I wear it....but in this case I tried one on because I loved the elephants...and apples lol.
But...there was a whole wall of waffle shirts, which is exactly what I wanted, and I snatched them up pretty quickly but $9 shirts add up very quickly. Sad. I also got another random shirt...I loved it in pink with stars but there was none in my size. Also sad, but bright blue is good too.
Yellow...not so good. I love owls though so I had to give it a try.
Then I looked at the baby clothes...uh oh lol...and got some things for Daniel.
Then I found a fleece throw for $10...and thought of the chilly bus/plane/train...and got that too.
And I stumbled upon sexy lingerie on sale, but I will not show pictures of that ;)
It all adds up...eek! This is me sad I spent so much money:
And this is me happy I bought some awesome things:
Um...then I walked home and went to Walgreens first for this, aka the best stuff ever:
And finally took a picture of my building:
Keeties:
And THEN...I finally used a coupon I had to ebags.com and got my needed travel bag. A simple black tote and rather huge...but I will NOT be one of those people carrying one of those in addition to a gigantic purse on the train during rush hour because that is ridiculous and stupid and, above all, really annoying because not only does it take up the space of an additional person, those women are never conscious of the bags and whack everyone with them. *eyes narrow*
So I think I'm done spending money for a while,,,besides food. No bills this week thank god lol. But I do need moisturizer soon...and I have to mail things.
The End.
Parts of this blog are taken from emails to my darling Michelle.
The other night I spilled a bit of water on my laptop keyboard and killed my left control key, which is extremely inconvenient since I am left-handed in using the control key. I'm glad there is a backup on the right, but still...very awkward.
So Sunday night my shower curtain fell and Monday I woke up to discover my thoughtful and considerate and EVIL kitties peed all over it and the towels that had been hanging on it! I was not as angry as I should have been because I had been looking an excuse for a new shower curtain and kinda wanted new towels too, BUT I was very angry that it happened on Monday because that is the only day I need to come home, shower, and go to bed....and do NOT have time to go buy a new shower curtain because I work all day and have 3 hours of dance class. So boooo on them. I spent the better part of Monday deciding on a gameplan, and was set on going to class and leaving after my class instead of staying for another hour, and at the last minute I decided I was too preoccupied and had to do it before class and had to go to Target (rather than Kmart or Sears or anywhere else) because it would be the prettiest, cheapest, and most convenient to get to dance afterwards (just hop on one bus and bam – there!) and I could grab dinner at Burger King and delight myself with a Cherry Coke...mmmm.
So I did...and they were all HIDEOUS or over $30!!! What the hell, Target? A year ago I was looking at them and they were all $9.99 and $19.99. AND AAAALLLL the liners were sold out! 4 other people were in the aisle sharing my plight, and we asked a Target associate who said, "Oh...well they were supposed to re-stock but I guess they didn't," and then shrugged and walked away! She was absolutely no help at all. Um, if multiple people are standing in an aisle needing something that you have but have not restocked, shouldn't you have someone go fetch the item from the Warehouse to meet your customers' needs?? I was so disgusted. Target has been so disappointing like that lately...such a lack of selection and that Target in particular is always cleaned out of what I need when I need it...like every time I would go to buy a mop they were completely out of mops. It's insane. That is my rant. I found one that will work but still it was $16. It's a vinyl shower curtain with little green leaves -- why is it $16?? But it served a dual purpose and I was able to shower after dance....except..... I get home to find that my other 2 towels that were in my closet had been secretly peed on sometime not recently!! So I had no towel! It was like nothing could go right. But it IS that time of year. So, in desperation, I just cut off the pee part of one towel and used the rest. What a hassle!
Today I went to Kmart after work for towels. Forget you, stupid Target! I spent much longer there than I had intended, growing more and more nauseated by the smell one of the last remaining Little Cesar's on earth that lives in the cover of the store. It's funny how Kmart can look so shiny and clean and it's still the same ol' ghetto Kmart. But it gets the job done. I had light pink towels in mind, but of course Martha Stewart held the monopoly on light pink towels and priced them at $11 each! Um...it's a TOWEL. I'm going to dry off my butt with this thing...it does not need to be $11. I found some others for $5 and splurged and got one of the $7 ones because I loved the color. I got rose, "Arctic Blue" (that's the $7 one, and green, of course, because I wouldn't be me if I didn't buy a green towel in my outing. After what felt like hours of pacing the aisles I finally found the smaller size and thinner towels for my hair that were a whopping $2. Sweet. They don't coordinate with the others, but, honestly, when have my towels ever coordinated by society's standards? They, like my sheets, match in that they don't match at all. *shrug* I just can't pick one color – they are all so pretty! So...the cheap little towels were sooo coarse and rough, but they're just for my hair and my hair does not mind. Note to self: the cheapest cheap towels at Kmart will be painful to touch in the store but after a wash and some fabric softener they are fantastically soft and fluffy!
I'd like to note that I bought 6 towels and a shower curtain liner at Kmart for LESS than the price of ONE ugly shower curtain at Target. thankyouverymuch *curtseys*
And now...pictures!!! Because it's me...like having a green towel.
New big towels: light green, rose, and arctic blue
New little towels: dark green, orchid, and light blue
New shower curtain: it's called "Whimsy Sage"
Aaand up close:
eeeevil kitties!
Holy Toast, Batman!
The End
Today I woke up sick. Balls! Sore throat, POUNDING headache, and slight nasal congestion. I made it to work and went to Walgreens for supplies and, after a cup of Theraflu, felt 87% better! I love Theraflu.
Today I had Free Lunch because I dropped my business card in a bowl and won! It was an odd sampling of people: people from work, girl from the office who works for another company we share the space with, coworker's friends, Jason from school, and Jared from old job. It was fun, and I hadn't seen Jared in almost 2 years! Eek! And now he's moving to New York and getting married! Eek!
Speaking of weddings, I went to one last weekend and it was a blast – SO much more fun than I had imagined!! And I guess Travis and I aren't used to us both drinking at a place we need to drive from...so halfway through we realized this and so I stopped drinking because I was the most sober. I took like 200 zany pictures of course where are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/BRCecil/NickAndSarahSWedding There are also pictures dispersed thought out the StL, Chicago, and Indy "Adventure" albums here: http://picasaweb.google.com/BRCecil
So after that I realized we're done with wedding until next October...and then this morning I find out my dear friend since high school is engaged AND pregnant! We have been out of touch for 2 years. Hmmm...that's another 2 years I haven't seen a friend. Sad... So...I am still in the shock of that news.
Right now I am enjoying pb&h(oney) sandwiches and watching disc 1 of Roots because I have NEVER seen it!!! Never!!! What is wrong with me?!? I saw Alex Haley's Queen. Oh, and I was all ready to watch Roots but Netflix only JUST made it available! Seriously, Netflix, that is shameful. They didn't have Roots OR Showboat...sadness on Netflix. And really, why is EVERYONE in Roots? It's nuts...in a good way.
I am sick! Boo sick!
In other good news, Travis starts his new job Monday and is VERY excited about it. I am glad he is excited.
Oh, and also last weekend my sister and I tap danced in the living room. I taught her Take Me Out to the Ballgame and we performed for Mom...it was fantastic!
Travis came to visit this weekend!
Saturday I did laundry, which was scary because the main light in the laundry room was out...creeeeepy basement!! Then I ran to Target to look at their selection of shot/shot-esque glasses and get some eggs. I was feeling exceptionally tired so I took the bus, which took forever because Traffic was really backed up – going both ways – rush hour style. Just as I sent Travis a text about it I had gotten off the bus and noticed the traffic light at Western and Logan was out...ah ha! I wondered if it just went out or if had been out since Thursday's scary storm, which seemed unlikely because it was a couple days ago. So...I walk over to Target and walk up to the automatic doors and nothing happens. Then I notice the manual door propped open and the darkness inside...
Target was without power but still open for business. I heard the security guard tell someone they hadn't had power since the storm! Crazy! I guess ComEd put the homes without power as a priority. They registers were open and there was random lights on. It was still pretty bustling with people – not as peaceful as I had imagined...or as Bass Pro! Once we went to Springfield (before I was in college) and were at Bass Pro during a big storm and the power went off. It was indeed peaceful because the power powered the indoor waterfall, so without that it was extremely quiet.
Anyway...Target had no sort of shot glasses whatsoever but had tiny plastic cups, which, as I was choosing colors, I realized I had tiny glasses in a box at home, and those should work perfectly. Then, since the power was out, there were no groceries! Dammit! So I walked home and stopped by the little Spanish grocery and got some eggs...and some bacon and biscuits...which was a very good move because it made a delicious breakfast this morning. I enjoy cooking when there is someone else to enjoy it.
Travis arrived around 9pm and we enjoy pizza and "punch" which I have yet to title. It was actually a big batch of Sex on the Beach with some mango juice added...and I made too much. Anyone want to come over and help me drink the rest?? So...it was tasty and we were happily tipsy and silly, which was lovely. The best part was this morning we were completely sober and equally, if not more, silly.
And to Nordstorm Rack...as usual.

We saw Superbad, which was awesome. We both laughed extremely hard many times
Theeen we didn't know what to do and to get away from people and not end up trapped in the hospital area we walked along Lake Shore Drive for a few blocks which was fantastic. They weather absolutely was perfect.

Theeen we went to Crate and Barrel, but first randomly discovered the Chicago Water Works, which we have passed thousands of times and never really noticed. Odd.
C&B was lovely as ever and the Axis sofa is still our favorite.

After that we walked back down to the Blue Line shuttle (another construction weekend)

and a kid was bleeding from a gash in the top of his head and another guy was telling him if he didn't go to the hospital it would get infected and his head would fall off, which would be far worse than owing more money. Yeah...
We came back and ate pizza and then he had to go, which made me exceptionally sad. I think because we didn't go to the movie until 2:30 and we usually go much earlier so it seemed like we lost the whole day. Sad...
