My office is located on the first floor of a building. We also take up some space in the basement. Above us is a parking garage.
Since people other than us can get into the building through the parking garage and via elevators, we have to use keycards to get in any door except the main door during business hours. This includes the basement.
A couple weeks ago I found the stairs. You don't need a keycard to get into the stairwell in the way that you do not need one to get onto an elevator. Are you still with me?
To get to the basement you can take the elevators and then are dropped off in a hall and have to use your keycard to get into our part of the basement. However, if you take the stairs to the basement, you can't get out of the stairwell and into the basement hall without using your keycard...and then you are in the hall with the elevators and have to get out your keycard again to get into our part of the basement.
I guess they don't want random able-bodied people to get into the basement at all but don't care about the handicapped or those with bad knees or those who are just lazy...
A Facebook thingy prompted me to remember what was quite
possibly my favorite childhood toy: mini flocked bears. You didn't find them in
the toy aisle or even at the regular store. The majority of mine came from
Fabric stores.
My mom is a seamstress, so we spent more time at Hancocks (and Joann's once we
moved to St. Louis) than the grocery. And you know how as a kid you get little
treats for going shopping with mom, like a candy bar or a quarter for the
gumball machine? Well, whenever we would go to Hancocks I would often get
either a card of buttons or a "little bear" as I called them. They
were always in a tub at the checkout with all the other impulse-buy items.
Also, my mom would get them for me when I wasn't with her especially if she saw
a different color and ESPECIALLY when one day she found rabbits (which we sorta
raised for years so anything with rabbits was a big deal, plus I LOVED them
so!).
I had quite the collection, and it's amazing how many different types of
flocked bears one can have. Some were softer than others, some fuzzier, and
some with more personality painted/printed on their little faces. Some had tiny
red bow-ties. Some, like the ones pictures, were rounder and fat (and thus
cuter) with one little arm raised like they were waving or gesturing. Others
were very stiff and thin. They all had personalities in my head...and one day I
took a sharpie to a few of them and drew on glasses and random spots which I
think were diseases because they were on some adventure and fell ill...I was a
crazy kid. And of course there were couples (blue and pink always went together
as did yellow and purple. Green...well I think they went with pink too or
yellow if the yellow was the right gender. My little mind was not yet aware of
homosexuality lol). Oh, and the Christmas bears went together of course even
though they all had bow ties...maybe I was ahead of my time.
The best discovery I ever made was that my Monopoly board was the perfect size for my little bears. Each street rectangle on the board was someone's house, and the royalty of course lived in the corners. I think the neon bears also lived in a corner because they were always together and thus lived together and there were 5 or so of them.
So, um, yes...such a tiny little random craft item brought me hours beyond hours of joy and entertainment. Now I want to find them in StL and...well I'm not sure what to do with them after I find them haha. Let them sit in my closet until I have children old enough to play with them.
So we got a new bra at VS. It's a push-up version of the one with memory foam, thus every time I am near one I must squish it. Sunday they set up the new display and I noted how the available colors looked liek Easter colors....and proceeded to name them...
Bra is here: clickyclick
So there is purple, lavender (wire), white (wireless), black, yellow, navy, and pink. And I started to name them for Alana...
Easter Bunny White
Baby Duck Yellow
Easter Basket Pink
Egg Hunt Purple
And then Alana said the Black was the empty tomb...genius! And there was ONE random grey wireless one that was the rock. So I changed some of the names...and Angie was around at this point, thinking we were silly I'm sure.
Empty Tomb Black
Resurrection White
...Baby Duck Yellow
...hmmm
Mary Magdalen Purple
...at which point Angie laughed harder than I think I have ever heard her laugh. I laughed pretty hard too.

You thoughts on abortions?
They are not so cool...
Today I dropped my cell phone for the 100th time and it actually broke! The screen cracked on the inside and now it looks like this:
Poor phone! I went on T-mobile.com to "upgrade" but apparently I signed a 2-year contract last year, not 1-year, so phone prices are outrageous. I bid on one on eBay but couldn't get online all day and was outbid. It's still usable but annoying, so I will keep my eye on eBay for now. I was going to just use my old phone but it's not MyFaves compatible...balls!
Also, I am sick! It's not too bad...yesterday I had a sore throat and felt feverish. I had to work ALL day and didn't get home til 10:30 and immediately took some Theraflu and a Mucinex and I feel much better today, just have a nasty-sounding cough and some gunk in my chest.
On the bright side of things I got sick from someone at my TEMP JOB, which was originally only 6 days long but has now been extended for 6 more weeks at another one of their offices. YAY! I just have to break the news to Victoria's Secret that I cannot work next week when they scheduled me...I am making efforts to find someone to cover my shift but there's really just 1 person per shift that isn't working that day already besides managers, and I'm waiting to hear back from those people. Hey, at least I made an effort, and they can deal with it if the people I ask can't work becuase, what, they expect me to spemd my day making $7 an hour at a store instead of $$ at a place where I could potentially snag a full-time position with a company I could honestly have a career with? Yeah right haha.
So yeah, yesterday sucked because I had to get up at 5am and go to temp job until 3, and then go to VS until 10:30, plus I was feeling awful and all I wanted was some Theraflu.
OH, today I made a sandwich of ham, mozzarella, and apples...grilled-cheese style. It was AMAZING. I highly recommend.

I had a temp job last Thursday and Friday. It was great -- I wish I could work there forever! It was at a non-profit organization and their motto is "Inspiring Philanthropy" and they give out Grants and get people to donate to causes and such. I sat at the front desk and answered the phone all of 6 times it rang all day, made some copies, put pages in binders for the board meeting, and put the binders in envelopes to mail to the Board members. Yeah, it was pretty sweet, except it’s in Carmel and way far from any bus line so Travis’s mom kindly drove me there. I’ll be going back the last 2 Fridays this month. And all the people there were amazingly nice.
Friday night we went to see The Watchmen at the IMAX Theater in Noblesville. I haven’t read it but really enjoyed it and now I definitely want to read it. Also, we had never been to the mall up there and definitely want to go when it’s open. It’s an outdoor mall but not like the one in Oak Brook (haha I had to think for a minute which “Oak” suburb it was – Oak Park, Oak Lawn….). It’s like a little town made of stores and looks really nice. Apparently there is also some awesome shoe store there.
Anyway, I went to work, sat at a desk, drank whenever I wanted to, ate whenever I wanted to, didn’t have to wear black, and then went to see a movie. I felt like a real person again.
And then I had to go back to the mall Saturday and today, but today we launched a new limited edition perfume that I am utterly in love with and we got a big bottle of it for $5 (rather than $49). Last night was UFC fights at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had to close at work so I didn’t get there until 11ish and had 2 giant beers in an hour…making up for lost time, the waiter said haha. Indeed I was! We got home around 1am and I immediately went to bed and was OUT and luckily set my alarm for noon, and my phone luckily automatically changes for Daylight Savings.
Ha…so, let me mention again that Daylight Savings is a fairly new concept for Indiana. Years and years ago they did it like the rest of the country, but somewhere along the lines they decided to stop…except for a few counties. In 2005 the whole state went back to changing the clocks, and everyone is so confused by it. It amuses me. So tonight we were trying to close the store and there were still a lot of people there, and I was in front and sat down on the floor and started straightening the last of my panty drawers. This lady was walking out with her daughters and scoffed, “I thought they closed at 6 but EVIDENTLY NOT,” and I said, from my spot on the floor behind the panty table, “It IS 6!” bwahahahaha dumbass.
After work Travisty and I had Tijuana Flats for dinner and then went to Target for 15 minutes (because they were closing haha). Then we came home but he had to run back out to Walgreens to get some cash so I can do laundry tomorrow…and he brought back some CLR for me! I excitedly cleaned the bedroom shower head…it looks much better now! Now I’m going to figure out when I need to leave for work (more temping!!) tomorrow and possibly do our Indiana taxes…gross.
The End.

- Ever failed a class?: ONE, shame on me: HST 121 Survey of the History of the United States to 1877, but when I went to retake it I couldn't fit into the section I wanted so I had to go ask the Department Head for permission, and, well, he asked me why I had to be in THAT specific class and not HST 122 Survey of the History of the United States since 1877. I told him I had failed it, he said, "Who was your instructor?" I told him and he said, "Oooh, that's why you failed," with an air of annoying at the instructor...like it really wasn't my imagination that the 100-Level class was impossibly difficult. He ended up letting me take HST122 and wrote a note to the records office to have that replace my failed grade for the other class...and I was doing really really well in that class until...I totally missed the Final! I thought it was on Thursday morning at 6am...and it was Tuesday morning at 6am...balls! But I still passed.

- Get along with your parents?: As best as I can considering my mother has completely lost her mind. i.e. Last night my sister was babysitting these kids she babysits every 4th monday and Mom was sending her text messages saying she was going to call the police and tell them CR stole her car...which is her fucked up way of saying my sister went somewhere without asking, which didn't happen at all...which makes her doubly insane. Also, she hid my bed. Yes, my old bed which was now the guest bed in the guest room...one day I had to go to StL for work and stayed the night there, you know, to visit, and after a long day of work I went upstairs to go to bed and there was no bed. It would have been ok had someone told me...and months later CR told me that the mattress is actually under HER bed and the night before I arrived mom took it out of the other room and hid it under her bed because she "didn't want [me] getting any ideas" ...any ideas about moving back in... ... ...yeah, that is not even a last resort in my mind. When CR's friends come over, they take a mattress off her bed (since there are TWO now) and the friend sleeps on the mattress on the floor, but when I come to visit I have to sleep on the couch and CR is not allowed to offer me a mattress. How completely fucked up is that? So...I get along with her as best I can with that in mind...and with her complete denial about hating my boyfriend for no reason at all (whenever asked about it), after loving him to death the first year we were together.
